In late 1928, Kurt Weill was commissioned to write a “theme song” for the “Berlin im Licht” (Berlin in Light) festival. Weill’s cute and ‘smart ass’ lyric lovingly extolls the glories of Berlin im Licht.
Cooper’s many summer evenings bike rides across Berlin inspired him to write an upbeat celebration of the city for Secara and the band. Jiggs Whigham's virtuosic trombone solo demonstrates his legendary command of the bebop jazz language.
